Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management
In today’s competitive environment, managing the supply chain and effectively controlling supply chain costs is critical for business. This has created a demand for employees with current skills and knowledge on how to effectively manage the supply chain using up– to–date tools, processes and technology. The Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management graduate certificate program provides you with a solid grounding in important business skills, including project management, critical thinking and leadership. As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared for a career as an analyst, manager, or specialist in such departments as: transportation, logistics, purchasing/ procurement, warehousing, and international trade.

This program is of interest to those who wish to obtain a professional designation in supply chain management (SCM).
The program is designed for those who want to accelerate advancement in their career in supply chain management; who are practitioners seeking directly transferable skills; or who intend to work at an executive level in SCM.
Balanced to deliver advanced supply chain management knowledge and high-level business acumen, the new competency-based curriculum takes an integrated approach to the workplace. The focus has shifted from purchasing to strategic supply chain management to better serve the needs of the evolving global marketplace.

Program Description
The uniqueness of the SCM program is the integration of ERP technology (SAP) in several courses within the program – giving students the technical skills to integrate technology into business processes – skills that global employers demand. The program builds upon student's previous experience and/or education, providing an intensive and co–ordinated approach to study the flow of goods and services from raw material suppliers to the final customer. This product flow will be reviewed from a global perspective, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the international business process. Students in this program will be given the opportunity to go on field trips and network with members of the Canadian Association of Supply Chain and Logistics Management and other industry professionals. Program features hands–on interactive methods, including case–studies, making experience relevant and applied.
Program Learning Outcomes
The program meets the system-wide standards as set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Graduates will be prepared to reliably demonstrate the ability to:

Apply knowledge of the functional components within logistics to the interrelationships in the integrated supply chain.

Employ a working knowledge of best practices in supply chain management.

Apply the basics of purchasing and supplier management to current best practices.

Apply knowledge of forecasting and inventory management theories and methodologies.

Use logistics technology tools and resources, in order to comply with the requirements of logistics/supply chain management.

Utilize information technology systems proficiently to support logistics management decisions.

Evaluate and select warehousing and transportation options and recommend appropriate solutions for business requirements.

Apply the basics of financial management including cost and managerial accounting.

Participate effectively in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects.

Conduct business in compliance with relevant national and international law, legislation, regulations, safety requirements, and professional standards.

Conduct business in the international marketplace.

Apply understanding of human resources management and organizational behaviour to establish and maintain effective teamwork relationships.

Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, as required in a business culture.

Apply problem-solving and critical-thinking skills as required in logistics/supply chain management.

Apply knowledge of the relationship of customer service to logistics/supply chain management.

Admission Requirements
Program Eligibility:

A recognized degree or three year post secondary diploma from an accredited institution; OR
-
Mature Student Status (age 19 or older) with 3 to 5 years of documented work experience in a related field. Relevant references must be provided.

English proficiency at the college level.

Student success in college requires well developed learning skills (such as being able to work independently, participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic achievement. While it is expected that applicants would have developed these skills through previous education and life experiences, our Partner Schools offers support to assist students with further development of these important skills. Seminars, workshops and tutoring are available.
